Brandedmedia were approached by University College Birmingham in September 2010 asking us to help them create a new look prospectus, which was to be aimed in particular at International students and so it needed to be far more interactive and user friendly than the standard brochure format.

The initial idea was to recreate the traditional printed prospectus and make it completely interactive, so it could be supplied to prospective students on a USB flash drive, CD, or to view on their website. We were asked to quote for 3 different packages, a bronze, silver and gold if you like; so the bronze was to include some basic navigation and a few basic videos within the prospectus, the silver would be slightly higher spec, involving more video footage and more intuitive navigation and finally the gold package, which would be an all singing all dancing spec, involving the same as the previous 2 packages, but with interactive maps of the campus and surrounding areas with zoom in/out capabilities, interactive career advice within the prospectus helping point students to the courses most suited to them and various other interactive elements and video footage.

When faced with the 3 packages it was clear the gold solution was the only option to create the spectacular interactive prospectus they had in mind.

So we embarked on the 2 year project with gusto, frequently visiting the University to film students and areas throughout the UK where the students had been able to take their education from the University College Birmingham into the workplace, ensuring we had some excellent footage which would be suited to such a high profile project.

Once we had all the footage we needed, it was back to the studio to edit the films and start looking at how they would fit in and link up to the E-Flick prospectus we had already started working on.

E-Flick brochures are a fantastic way of adding an element of interactivity to a standard PDF, it is particularly suitable for any kind of brochure, leaflet, or book and as well as the E-Flick brochure, they are also known in the industry as 3D page turners, E-Brochures, Electronic Brochures and PDF Brochures.

They can be as basic or as sophisticated as you like, from a very simple page turning operation system where the user simply clicks on the slightly lifted page corner to turn the pages, to a fully interactive brochure such as the prospectus we mentioned before.

The E-Flick brochure is all about putting existing content which you probably already hold, whether it be documentation and graphics or actual video content, together to create a fantastic presentation at a realistic price.
